Chicago, Illinois (NED).– El Consejo Comunitario de Vecinos de Pilsen en colaboración con el Consulado de México en Chicago, Richard Daley College, Harold Washington College, City Colleges of Chicago Undocumented Students Services, Illinois Workers in Action, Center for Immigrant Progress, Law Office de Rocio Velázquez LLC, Northern Illinois Justice For Our Neighbors, Greater Chicago Legal Clinic y CPS Parent University, organizarán una cumbre sobre inmigración y DACA el próximo 1 de abril de 10 am a 3 pm en The Arturo Velasquez Westside Technical Institute, 2800 S Western Ave.
El objetivo de la Cumbre es actualizar a los beneficiarios de DACA sobre lo que está sucediendo con DACA a nivel nacional, la elegibilidad para la renovación de DACA, la elegibilidad para el apoyo de la tarifa de renovación de DACA y, si son elegibles, podrán renovar su DACA en el -sitio.
Además, los abogados de inmigración hablarán sobre qué es la libertad condicional anticipada y quién califica para ella. Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de hacer cualquier pregunta a los abogados de inmigración con respecto a sus preocupaciones de inmigración.
Durante el evento, los colegios universitarios de la ciudad de Chicago brindarán recursos educativos sobre becas educativas para estudiantes. Durante los últimos diez años, DACA ha estado en el limbo, sin embargo, los beneficiarios de DACA aún pueden seguir renovando sus permisos de trabajo y también tienen la oportunidad de solicitar un permiso para viajar al extranjero.
Este permiso se llama Advance Parole. Advance Parole es un documento de autorización de viaje temporal, en el que las personas con DACA pueden salir y volver a ingresar a los Estados Unidos si la situación lo requiere.
Los Servicios de Ciudadanía e Inmigración de los Estados Unidos (USCIS) aprueban los documentos de viaje para aquellos que demuestren su necesidad de viajar por motivos humanitarios, educativos o laborales.
Durante la Cumbre, estaremos organizando una Conferencia Virtual (Facebook Live) con los beneficiarios de DACA que viajaron a su país de nacimiento al solicitar el permiso de Permiso Adelantado. Estarán compartiendo sus experiencias, contando la historia de por qué solicitaron este permiso, cómo se sintieron después de solicitarlo y cómo este viaje a su país de origen cambió sus vidas. Las personas sin cita previa pueden aprovechar nuestras mesas de recursos (educación, inmigración, etc.), sin embargo, solo aquellos que se registraron previamente pueden recibir asistencia para renovar su DACA.

Pilsen Neighbors to host DACA & Immigration Summit
Chicago, Illinois (NED).– Pilsen Neighbors Community Council in collaboration with el Consulado de México en Chicago, Richard Daley College, Harold Washington College, City Colleges of Chicago Undocumented Students Services, Illinois Workers in Action, Center for Immigrant Progress, Law Office of Rocio Velázquez LLC, Northern Illinois Justice For Our Neighbors, Greater Chicago Legal Clinic, and CPS Parent University, will be hosting a DACA & Immigration Summit this upcoming April 1st from 10 am to 3 pm at The Arturo Velasquez Westside Technical Institute, 2800 S Western Ave.
The goal of the Summit is to update DACA recipients on what is happening with DACA at the national level, DACA renewal eligibility, eligibility for DACA Renewal fee support, and if they are eligible, they will be able to renew their DACA on-site. In addition, immigration attorneys will talk about what Advance Parole is and who qualifies for it. Participants will have the opportunity to ask any questions to immigration attorneys regarding their immigration concerns.
During the event, City Colleges across Chicago will be providing educational resources regarding educational scholarships for students. Over the last ten years, DACA has been in limbo, however, DACA Recipients can still keep renewing their work permits and also have the opportunity to apply for permission to travel abroad.
This permit is called Advance Parole. Advance Parole is a temporary travel authorization document, in which people with DACA may exit and re-enter the United States if the situation asks for it.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) approves travel documents for those who demonstrate their need to travel for humanitarian, educational, or employment purposes. During the Summit, we will be hosting a Virtual Conference (Facebook Live) with DACA recipients that traveled to their birth-country by applying to the Advance Parole permit. They’ll be sharing their experiences, telling the story of why they applied for this permit, how they felt after applying, and how this trip to their birth-country changed their lives. Walk-ins are allowed to take advantage of our resource tables (education, immigration, etc) , however, only those who previously registered can be assisted in renewing their DACA.
