Mes de la Herencia Hispana

Lyndon B. Johnson, fue el primer presidente en esta nación en proclamar la Semana Nacional de la Herencia Hispana, con una celebración especial el 15 de septiembre, fecha que en que se conmemoran las independencias de México, Nicaragua, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala y Honduras.
El Congreso de los Estados Unidos 1968 aprobó la iniciativa de conmemorar la semana de la Herencia Hispana, sin embargo, 1988 el entonces presidente Ronald Reagan hizo oficial la celebración y la extendió del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre, desde ese entonces los Hispanos radicados en esta nación festejamos nuestro orgullo Hispano. A partir de entonces las comunidades latinas o hispanas hemos tenido de todo, y hemos sido parte importante de muchas cosas incluyendo los cambios en el país.
Según informes dados a conocer de los más de 325 millones de habitantes de Estados Unidos, un poco más de 60 millones son de origen latino, es decir el 18% de la población. Y si las proyecciones demográficas se cumplen, para el año 2050, la población de origen latino podría llegar a 133 millones de personas. Si se analiza bien podemos darnos cuenta que somos un grupo relevante. Pero nos falta algo muy importante, ser más participativos, creer en nosotros mismos y en los cambios que podemos lograr VOTANDO, obvio no siempre podremos ganar, sin embargo la continua participación en todo nos llevará a la meta que buscamos. La apatía y desconfianza es nuestros peor enemigo, peor aún, reditúa en nosotros mismos, nos ciega y culpamos al sistema, la corrupción o a los demás.
Saquemos provecho de estas estadísticas, aprovechemos el porcentaje que tenemos, las contribuciones que hemos dado a la nación, luchemos por nuestro futuro. Especialmente este año, que estamos viviendo no solo la pandemia sino también el racismo y la discriminación. Apoyemos y participemos en todo aquello que beneficia a nuestra comunidad Hispana y forjemos un futuro certero para los nuestros, porque lo merecemos, merecemos un lugar.
Hagamos lo mismo que la comunidad Afroamericana, unámonos no importa que en otros momentos no estemos de acuerdo en todo. Este año es el momento de hacer una celebración especial a nuestras raíces, a nuestra herencia hispana, enfrentando con nuestro registro y posteriormente nuestro voto que unidos no solo sabemos celebrar, sino que unidos podemos hacer el cambio para tener un gobierno y gobernantes que comprueben que nuestro decisión a través del voto CUENTA. De esta forma no solo podremos seguir festejando el Mes de la Herencia Hispana y las aportaciones que hemos dado a la nación. También se nos dará un lugar y respeto a nuestra comunidad con mejores recursos económicos, en salud y educación. ¡Viva el mes de la Herencia Hispana! ¡Vivan los mexicanos y todas las comunidades Latinas o Hispanas que aportan beneficios a nuestra nación Estadounidense!

Hispanic Heritage Month

Lyndon B. Johnson, was the first president in this nation to proclaim National Hispanic Heritage Week, with a special celebration on September 15, the date that commemorates the independence of Mexico, Nicaragua, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
The United States Congress in 1968 approved the initiative to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Week, however, in 1988 then President Ronald Reagan made the celebration official and extended it from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, since which time Hispanics in this nation have celebrated our Hispanic pride. Since then the Latino or Hispanic community has had everything, and we have been an important part of many things including the changes in the country.
According to reports of the more than 325 million people in the United States, a little more than 60 million are of Latino origin, or 18% of the population. And if demographic projections come true, by 2050, the Latino population could reach 133 million people. If you look closely, you can see that we are a relevant group. But we lack something very important, to be more participatory, to believe in ourselves and in the changes that we can achieve by VOTING, obviously we will not always be able to win, however the continuous participation in everything will take us to the goal we are looking for. Apathy and mistrust is our worst enemy, worse yet, it redounds on ourselves, blinds us and we blame the system, corruption or others.
Let’s take advantage of these statistics, let’s take advantage of the percentage we have, the contributions we have given to the nation, let’s fight for our future. Especially this year, we are living not only the pandemic but also racism and discrimination. Let’s support and participate in everything that benefits our Hispanic community and let’s forge a secure future for our people, because we deserve it, we deserve a place.
Let’s do the same as the African American community, let’s unite no matter that at other times we may not agree on everything. This year is the time to make a special celebration of our roots, our Hispanic heritage, facing our registration and later our vote that together we not only know how to celebrate, but together we can make the change to have a government and governors that prove that our decision through the vote COUNTS. In this way we can not only continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and the contributions we have made to the nation. We will also be given a place and respect for our community with better economic resources, health and education. Long live Hispanic Heritage Month! Long live Mexicans and all the Latino or Hispanic communities that bring benefits to our American nation!
