Berwyn, Illinois (NED).– Las acciones vergonzosas de ayer en la capital del país, han dejado un sin número de preguntas a habitantes de los Estados Unidos y países de todo el mundo. ¿Dónde estamos, que está pasando aquí? En más de 45 años viviendo aquí, jamás habíamos sentido la inseguridad que sentimos ayer al ver los disturbios que provocaron insubordinados estadunidenses en contra del capitolio del país.
Después de destrozos dentro del recinto la guardia nacional pudo desalojar a los destructores e imponer toque de queda. Tristeza, enojo, angustia y mucho más vivieron los legisladores quienes temieron por su seguridad.
Redes sociales como Twitter y Facebook, bloquearon los mensajes del presidente Donald Trump, quien desde hace meses y hasta el día de ayer antes de la violación al Capitolio, incitó a sus seguidores a luchar por la que él llamo fraude en las elecciones; algo que no pudo comprobar pero que sí logró prender fuego, los resultados un Capitolio lleno de destrucción en pasillos oficinas y todo el recinto.
Ahora se pide la destitución del presidente, quien de ayer a hoy a recibido las renuncias de varios miembros de su equipo, incluyendo el jefe de personal.
El vicepresidente Mike Pence, hizo lo correcto al dar a conocer la votación en favor del presidente electo Joe Biden, pese a las amenazas del mandatario. Hoy se habla de destituir al presidente bajo la enmienda 25 de la Constitución. Tendremos que esperar a ver que se logra.
Por lo tanto, Michael Brune, director ejecutivo de Sierra Club da a conocer su punto de vista contra el violento ataque al Congreso Federal:
“Este país nos pertenece a todos. Cuando nuestros amigos y vecinos negros arriesgaron su integridad física en busca de justicia, de inmediato se desplegaron fuerzas policiales militarizadas a quienes se les animó a que usaran tácticas violentas. Pero cuando los supremacistas blancos amenazan a la democracia, su violencia queda impune.
“En noviembre, usamos nuestro poder para derrotar a Donald Trump. El martes, los georgianos usaron su poder para hacer historia y mandaron dos nuevos senadores a Washington, asegurando así que las dos cámaras del Congreso estarán lideradas por ciudadanos comprometidos con crear un planeta vivible, comunidades seguras y un democracia inclusiva. Y ahora tenemos que usar nuestro poder para expulsar a Trump y al trumpismo que está atacando los valores e instituciones primordiales de nuestro país.
“La insurrección que acabó en el intento de golpe de estado es la culminación de las mentiras, racismo y odio de Donald Trump y sus secuaces. Esta surgió de la misma negación de la realidad y la búsqueda de poder a toda costa que lo ha mantenido en el poder. Esto ya no es aceptable. Donald Trump tiene que ser expulsado del poder por medio de cualquier recurso disponible para el gobierno. “Hoy es un día vergonzoso en la historia de nuestro país, pero seguiremos trabajando sin cesar para asegurarnos de que la justicia y la democracia triunfen. Nos uniremos, nos alzaremos, y no solo salvaguardaremos nuestra democracia, sino que también la fomentaremos para nosotros y futuras generaciones”, termina diciendo Michael Brune.

Trump must be removed
Berwyn, Illinois (NED) – Yesterday’s shameful actions on the nation’s capital have left countless questions for people in the United States and countries around the world. Where are we, what’s going on here? In more than 45 years living here, we have never felt the insecurity we felt yesterday when we saw the riots that provoked insubordinate Americans against the country’s capitol.
After the destruction inside the US Capitol building, the National Guard was able to remove the rioters and impose a curfew. Sadness, anger, anguish was lived by legislators who feared for their safety.
Social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, blocked the messages of President Donald Trump, who for months and until yesterday before the attack on the Capitol, incited his followers to fight for what he called election fraud; something that he could not prove but that did set fire to the results, a Capitol full of destruction in hallways, offices and the entire compound.
Now people are asking for the dismissal of the President, who from yesterday to today has received the resignations of several members of his team, including his chief of staff.
Vice President Mike Pence did the right thing by certifying the vote in favor of President-elect Joe Biden, despite threats from the president. Today there is talk of removing the president under the 25th Amendment to the Constitution. We will have to wait and see what is achieved.
Michael Brune, executive director of the Sierra Club, gave his opinion on the violent attack on the Federal Congress: “This country belongs to all of us. When our Black friends and neighbors put their bodies on the line in the pursuit of justice, militarized police forces are immediately deployed and encouraged to use violent tactics. But when white supremacists threaten our democracy, their violence goes unchecked.
“In November, we used our power to defeat Donald Trump. Yesterday, Georgians used their power to make history and send two new senators to Washington, ensuring that both chambers of Congress are led by those committed to creating a livable planet, safe communities, and an inclusive democracy. And now, we must use our power to expel Trump and the Trumpism that is attacking the core values and institutions of our country. 
“The insurrection that led to today’s attempted coup is the culmination of Donald Trump and his abettors’ lies, racism, and hatred, and grew from the same denial of reality and pursuit of power at all costs which has kept him in power. This cannot be accepted any longer. Donald Trump must be removed from office under any of the processes available to our government.
“Today is a disgraceful day in our country’s history, but we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that justice and democracy prevail. We will come together, we will rise up, and we will not only safeguard our democracy, but grow it to protect us all now, and for generations to come.” concludes Michael Brune.
