Stickney, Illinois (NED).– Este miércoles 19 de julio, 2023, se llevó a cabo una reunión en Morton College con damnificados por las inundaciones, residentes expresaron con lágrimas en los ojos, su frustración, al haber perdido todo o parte de sus pertenencias por la lluvia torrencial.
El gobierno de Cicero, representado por su presidente Larry Dominick, escucho con atención las quejas de los habitantes. El salón estuvo abarrotado mientras otros ciudadanos escuchaban en el jardín del colegio el dialogo con las autoridades. Hasta hoy el gobernador de Illinois J.B. Pritzker, no lo ha pronunciado como zona de desastre.
Por su parte pueblo de Stickney, el mismo día por la tarde, dio a conocer que este sábado 22 de julio de 11 am a 3 pm, se llevará a cabo una reunión con residentes de los suburbios Stickney, Cicero y Berwyn que sufrieron inundaciones en sus casas.
Las Organizaciones Comunitarias Activas en Desastres (COAD) que albergan un centro de recursos de recuperación para los residentes de Cicero, Berwyn y Stickney afectados por las inundaciones que tuvieron lugar el domingo 2 de julio de 2023, estarán presentes para ver que tipo de recursos podría haber o necesitar los afectados.
La reunión se llevará a cabo en el Edificio de Seguridad Pública de Cicero, en 5410 34th Street, Cicero.
Agencias públicas y privadas de socorro en casos de desastre a nivel local, regional y nacional proporcionarán recursos a las personas afectadas por las inundaciones.
La información proporcionada recalca que (las puertas se cerrarán a las 3 pm en punto). Así que si usted ha sido uno de los afectados se recomienda que llegue con tiempo.
El pasado 2 de julio cientos de hogares se vieron afectados por fuerte inundaciones, debido a la torrencial lluvia, acompañada fuertes vientos y tornados en varios condados de Illinois, siendo uno de más afectados el condado de Cook.
Cicero y Stickney dieron solicitudes de Inundación y pidieron a sus habitantes enviar fotos junto con las formas llenadas. Berwyn dio a conocer que la ciudad tenía solicitudes para quienes las pidieran. Según residentes, no se les había informado, de inmediato comenzaron a pedirlas y llenarlas.

Meeting for those affected by floods for Stickney, Cicero, and Berwyn
Stickney, Illinois (NED) – On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, a meeting was held at Morton College with flood victims, residents tearfully expressed their frustration at having lost all or part of their belongings to the torrential rain.
The Cicero government, represented by its president Larry Dominick, listened attentively to the residents’ complaints. The hall was packed while other citizens listened in the school garden to the dialogue with the authorities. As of today, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has not declared it a disaster area.
The Town of Stickney, on the same day in the afternoon, announced that this Saturday, July 22nd from 11 am to 3 pm, a meeting will be held with residents of the suburbs of Stickney, Cicero and Berwyn who suffered flooding in their homes.
Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) which is hosting a recovery resource center for residents of Cicero, Berwyn and Stickney affected by the flooding that took place on Sunday, July 2, 2023, will be present to see what kind of resources might be available or needed by those affected.
The meeting will be held at the Cicero Public Safety Building, 5410 34th Street, Cicero.
Public and private disaster relief agencies at the local, regional and national levels will provide resources to those affected by the flooding.
The information provided stresses that (doors will close at 3 pm sharp). So if you have been one of those affected it is recommended that you arrive early.
On July 2, hundreds of homes were affected by heavy flooding due to torrential rain, high winds and tornadoes in several Illinois counties, with Cook County being one of the hardest hit.
Cicero and Stickney counties issued Flood Requests and asked residents to submit photos along with the completed forms. Berwyn made it known that the town had applications for those who requested them. According to residents, they had not been informed, they immediately began asking for them and filling them out.
