Patty García Makes Immigration, Cost of Living Central to IL-04 Debate
Chicago, Illinois (NED).— Patty García took the stage with Republican Lupe Castillo, Independent Chris Getty, and Working Class Party candidate Ed Hershey for a live debate on Fox 32 Chicago this week. Patty laid out her vision for working families in the 4th District, including raising the minimum wage, standing up for workers and unions, guaranteeing health care for all through Medicare for All, and protecting immigrant families from ICE.
García opened by making the case has driven her campaign since day one; that families in the 4th District are working harder than ever and falling further behind, while the wealthiest Americans pay a smaller share than the people that clean their offices
“My father worked on an assembly line for 30 years,” said Patty García. “Then they moved his job somewhere cheaper. Nobody handed my family anything.”
Patty was the only candidate on stage with the experience to deliver for the district from day one. As chief of staff and former district director to Congressman Chuy García, she has spent years helping Southwest Side and suburban families get results from Washington.
Meanwhile, her opponents offered voters little beyond talking points. Lupe Castillo, who lost this seat by 40 points in 2024, and defended the Republican agenda that is driving up costs and targeting immigrant families in our neighborhoods.
“Voters who watched the debate on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, could see the difference: Patty is ready to fight for them from day one.She has spent years delivering for the families of the 4th District, and tonight she laid out a clear plan to raise wages, make health care a right, abolish ICE and stand up for our immigrant communities against Donald Trump’s attacks. Her opponents offered an agenda that has been rejected again and again. On November 3rd, voters will choose experience and results, and that’s why they’ll cast their ballots for Patty
García,” said Manny Diaz, Campaign Manager, Patty Garcia for Congress.
