Springfield, Illinois (TCS/NED) – Los demócratas de Illinois presionaron por su agenda mientras minimizaban cualquier idea de posible conflicto dentro del partido en los eventos relacionados con el Día del Gobernador en la Feria Estatal de Illinois.
El miércoles se llevó a cabo un brunch en el Bank of Springfield Center como parte de los eventos de este año.
Muchos líderes del partido demócrata hablaron, incluido el gobernador J.B. Pritzker, quien habló sobre cosas que él ve como logros mientras ataca al partido republicano.
“Están intentando dividir a Estados Unidos con palabras de odio y una agenda radical”, dijo Pritzker. “Mientras tanto, ¿qué partido equilibró el presupuesto estatal durante los últimos cuatro años? Los demócratas. ¿Qué partido eliminó la acumulación de proyectos de ley y obtuvo seis mejoras de crédito? Los demócratas”.
Pritzker habló sobre un partido unificado, pero se le preguntó sobre posibles conflictos dentro del partido debido a que la representante Elizabeth Hernández, D-Cicero, fue nombrada nueva presidenta del Partido Demócrata de Illinois, en reemplazo de la representante estadounidense Robin Kelly, D-Matteson.
Pritzker dijo que si alguien tenía algún problema, podía venir a hablar con él.
“No creo que haya conflictos. Creo que todos estamos trabajando bastante bien juntos”, dijo Pritzker a los medios en un evento en el recinto ferial. “Si la gente se siente así, deberían ponerse de pie y venir a ver a cualquiera de nosotros si quieren hablar”.
Hernández ha sido representante estatal desde enero de 2007 y se desempeñó en el liderazgo de la Cámara bajo el expresidente Michael Madigan. Ella no ve las luchas internas como un problema para el partido.
“Simplemente hay un intento de tratar de que los demócratas pasen noviembre, y no veo ningún problema”, dijo Hernández.
Pritzker también habló sobre las elecciones de noviembre.
“Estamos volviendo azul lo que alguna vez fue un bastión republicano, gracias al trabajo incansable de todas las personas en esta sala”, dijo Pritzker.
Los republicanos de Illinois tendrán su día en la feria estatal el jueves.

Democrats rally at fair, downplay party strife
Springfield, Illinois (TCS/NED) – Illinois Democrats pushed for their agenda while downplaying any idea of possible strife within the party at events surrounding Governor’s Day at the Illinois State Fair.
A brunch was held Wednesday at the Bank of Springfield Center as part of this year’s events.
Many Democratic party leaders spoke, including Gov. J.B. Pritzker, who talked about things he sees as accomplishments while taking shots at the Republican party.
“They are attempting to divide America with hateful words and a radical agenda,” Pritzker said. “Meanwhile, which party balanced the state budget for the last four years? Democrats. Which party eliminated the bill backlog and got six credit upgrades? Democrats.”
Pritzker spoke about a unified party but was asked about possible strife inside the party due to Rep. Elizabeth Hernandez, D-Cicero, being named the new chair of the Democratic Party of Illinois, replacing U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Matteson.
Pritzker said if anyone had any problems, they could come talk to him.
“I do not think there is strife. I think we are all working pretty well together,” Pritzker told media at an event on the fairgrounds. “If people feel that way, they should stand up and come see any of us if they want to talk.”
Hernandez has been a state representative since January 2007 and served in House leadership under former Speaker Michael Madigan. She does not see infighting as an issue for the party.
“There is just an intent to try to get the Democrats through November, and I do not see a problem,” Hernandez said.
Pritzker also spoke about the November elections.
“We are turning what once was a Republican stronghold blue, thanks to the relentless work of all the people in this room,” Pritzker said.
Illinois Republicans will have their day at the state fair on Thursday.
