Congresista Ramírez desaprueba la decisión del juez Andrew Hanen contra DACA
Washington, DC.– Como esposa de un beneficiario de DACA, esta decisión de declarar “ilegal” el programa de Acción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia para “Dreamers” es desgarradora e inaceptable, dice la congresista por el Distrito 3 de Illinois, Delia C. Ramírez.
Añadiendo, mi esposo llegó a esta nación a una edad temprana. Si bien no fue perfecto, este programa le permitió construir una vida, un hogar. Esta decisión le quita esa oportunidad a muchos jóvenes inmigrantes que viven en nuestras comunidades y contribuyen a nuestra economía. Nuestra nación debe ser un lugar donde los jóvenes tengan la seguridad para soñar y realizar un futuro lleno de oportunidades.
La congresista Delia C. La decisión del juez Hanen, si bien no sorprende, sigue siendo decepcionante. Pero esta lucha está lejos de terminar. Ahora, más que nunca, los miembros del Congreso tienen que hacer el trabajo para el que fueron elegidos, y eso incluye una reforma migratoria integral. El Congreso necesita tomar medidas y responder a los muchos inmigrantes en sus comunidades que esperan la oportunidad de prosperar y vivir sin miedo. Podemos empezar hoy, dejando de lado el teatro político y aprobando la Ley de Promesa y Sueño Americano. Nuestros Dreamers e inmigrantes merecen algo mejor.

Washington, DC.– As the wife of a DACA recipient, this decision to declare the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program “illegal” for “Dreamers” is heartbreaking and unacceptable, says Illinois District 3 Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez.
Adding, my husband came to this nation at a young age. While he wasn’t perfect, this program allowed him to build a life, a home. This decision takes away that opportunity from many young immigrants who live in our communities and contribute to our economy. Our nation must be a place where young people have the security to dream and realize a future full of opportunities.
Congresswoman Delia C. Ramírez, ranking deputy member of the Homeland Security Committee, made her immediate statement after Texas federal judge Andrew Hanen declared the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program illegal, Bringing down a Biden’s effort to codify the policy into a federal regulation.
Judge Hanen’s decision, while not surprising, is still disappointing. But this fight is far from over. Now, more than ever, the members of Congress have to do the job they were elected to do, and that includes comprehensive immigration reform. Congress needs to take action and respond to the many immigrants in their communities waiting for the opportunity to flourish, to live without fear. We can start today, leaving the political theater aside and passing the American Dream and Promise Act. Our Dreamers and immigrants deserve better.
To the current DACA recipients, you can still renew your DACA. Don’t let fear and misinformation jeopardize your future. As the only member of Congress in a mixed-status family, know that I will work endlessly and fight relentlessly for a pathway to legal status for every Dreamer.”
