García aplaude la medida pero, “Todavía queda mucho por hacer”
Chicago, Illinois (NED).– El Congresista Jesús “Chuy” García emitió la siguiente declaración sobre el fallo de la Corte Suprema de hoy en el caso Biden v. Texas, que permite al presidente poner fin a la política de “Permanecer en México”:
“La Corte Suprema confirmó hoy que la cruel política conocida como ‘Permanecer en México’ de la era Trump finalmente puede terminar. Esta es una decisión importante que subraya la autoridad del Presidente Biden y su administración para tomar medidas ejecutivas sobre cuestiones relacionadas con la inmigración y el asilo.
“Buscar asilo es un derecho humano. Apenas la semana pasada vimos una tragedia impresionante en San Antonio que subraya que se deben tomar más medidas para poner fin al Título 42 y otras políticas crueles de la administración anterior que limitan el derecho legal a solicitar asilo.
“Todavía queda mucho trabajo por hacer para arreglar nuestro disfuncional sistema de inmigración, pero este es un paso importante en la dirección correcta”.

Supreme Court annuls the “Remain in Mexico” policy
García applauds the measure but, “There is still a lot to do”
Chicago, Illinois (NED).– Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García issued the following statement on today’s Supreme Court Ruling on Biden v. Texas, allowing the president to end the “Remain in Mexico” policy:
“The Supreme Court confirmed today that the cruel ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy of the Trump era can finally end. This is an important decision that underscores the authority of President Biden and his administration to take executive action on issues related to immigration and asylum.
“Seeking asylum is a human right. In the past week alone, we saw an unspeakable tragedy in San Antonio underscoring that further steps need to be taken to end Title 42 and other cruel policies of the previous administration that limit the legal right to seek asylum.
“There is still much work to be done to fix our broken immigration system, but this is an important step in the right direction.”
