WHAT:
The Cook County Board of Review will hold a press conference to provide important information for Cook County property owners regarding the property tax appeal process as the second installment of 2025 property tax bills are expected to be issued on September 1 per the Cook County President’s Office.
The Commissioners will discuss:
- Upcoming township appeal filing periods and deadlines
- Pre-file opportunities for all Cook County residents whose townships are not currently open
- Provide information for homeowners and commercial property owners whose properties sustained damage from severe storms and flooding this summer
- Resources available through the Cook County Board of Review to assist taxpayers throughout the appeal process

WHY:
As Cook County property owners begin receiving their second installment 2025 property tax bills, the Cook County Board of Review wants taxpayers to understand the appeal opportunities available to them. In addition to upcoming township filing periods and pre-file opportunities, property owners whose homes or businesses sustained damage from this summer’s severe storms and flooding may be eligible for relief from the Cook County Board of Review if the home or business was declared uninhabitable. The press conference will provide guidance on available resources, eligibility, and the documentation needed to help taxpayers navigate the appeal process.
Members of the media will have the opportunity to interview the Commissioners following the press conference.
