Aprueba la re designación del TPS para Venezolanos
Washington, DC – La congresista Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03), vicemiembro de alto rango del Comité de Seguridad Nacional, felicitó a la administración Biden por anunciar otra serie de acciones para aumentar la vigilancia y militarizar aún más la frontera suroeste, acelerar tramitación de autorizaciones de trabajo, y la decisión de redesignar y extender el Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS) a Venezolanos.
“Felicito al presidente Biden y su administración por atender mi llamado y el llamado de los defensores de la inmigración y los funcionarios locales y estatales al otorgar el Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS) para nuestros inmigrantes venezolanos y ampliar el acceso a autorizaciones de trabajo para los migrantes”.
Mientras nuestra nación enfrenta una escasez de mano de obra y nuestras ciudades santuario esperan los recursos adecuados para seguir brindando refugio y servicios muy necesarios, estos pasos nos ayudan a satisfacer las necesidades de los migrantes que buscan asilo. Seguimos alentando a la administración a utilizar todos los recursos y la autoridad a su disposición para aprovechar estas acciones y brindar el alivio que se necesitaba hace mucho tiempo a la comunidad de inmigrantes indocumentados en general, especialmente a los beneficiarios de DACA y aquellos que han esperado décadas por una reforma migratoria integral.
“Esto fortalecerá nuestra economía frente a la escasez de mano de obra en todo el país”, dijo la congresista Ramírez. “Si bien estos pasos son dignos de celebración, sigo preocupado por una mayor militarización de nuestra frontera y la decisión de acelerar las expulsiones de familias, lo que limita el derecho constitucional al debido proceso para los solicitantes de asilo”.
“Sigo comprometida a seguir trabajando con la Administración para abordar genuinamente la crisis humanitaria en nuestra frontera. Debemos seguir priorizando acciones que aporten recursos a las comunidades, fortalezcan nuestra economía y avancen en una reforma migratoria integral que aborde las causas fundamentales de la migración”.

Approves the redesignation of TPS for Venezuelans
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03), Vice Ranking Member of the Homeland Security Committee, released the following statement after the Biden Administration announced another series of actions to increase enforcement and further militarize the Southwest Border, accelerate processing of work authorizations, and the decision to redesignate and extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuela.
“I commend President Biden and his Administration for heeding my call and the call of immigration advocates and local and state officials by delivering Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for our Venezuelan immigrants and expanding access to work authorizations for migrants”.
As our nation faces a labor shortage and our sanctuary cities await proper resources to keep providing much-needed refuge and services, these steps help us rise to meet the needs of migrants seeking asylum. We continue to encourage the administration to use all the resources and authority at their disposal to build on these actions and to deliver long overdue relief to the broader undocumented immigrant community, especially DACA recipients and those who have waited decades for comprehensive immigration reform.
“This will strengthen our economy in the face of nationwide labor shortages,” said Congresswoman Ramirez. “While these steps are to be celebrated, I continue to be concerned about further militarization of our border and the decision to expedite family removals, which narrows the constitutional right to due process for asylum seekers.“
