(IRWC) de CAARPR condena la cancelación del Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS) para los Haitianos
El 27 de julio de 2026, la administración Trump puso fin al Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS) para los inmigrantes haitianos. Miles de haitianos en Ohio han recibido notificaciones para presentarse en una oficina del ICE en Cincinnati, ya sea para que se les coloque un monitor de tobillo o para abandonar el país voluntariamente.
Esta medida abrupta, indiscriminada y generalizada deja a 350.000 inmigrantes haitianos en una situación en la que probablemente enfrentarán violencia, independientemente de la decisión que tomen. Desde las tácticas de deportación letales empleadas por el ICE y la grave crisis sanitaria y de tortura en los centros de detención de dicha agencia, hasta las tensiones en Haití, los haitianos se ven abocados a un sufrimiento innecesario. Si bien el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS) afirma ofrecer 2.600 dólares a los inmigrantes que deciden abandonar Estados Unidos, muchos de los que optan por esta vía siguen enfrentándose a condiciones horribles durante su detención y nunca llegan a recibir el pago prometido.
Es importante identificar claramente la causa de esta situación: se trata de una campaña de odio que dura ya décadas y que ha sido avivada por la administración Trump. Esta administración utiliza contenidos racistas e inteligencia artificial para promover estereotipos falsos y violentamente racistas sobre los haitianos en general. Del mismo modo que la administración Trump ha tachado a los mexicanos de “violadores y narcotraficantes” y a los venezolanos de “pandilleros violentos”, ha difundido rumores absurdos de que los haitianos roban mascotas para comérselas. Lo que en un principio parece mera retórica suele ir seguido de ataques reales y tangibles contra las comunidades negras y de color. Por ello, es vital oponerse a esta administración en todo momento.
El Comité de Trabajo sobre los Derechos de los Inmigrantes (IRWC) de CAARPR prevé que la retirada del TPS a los inmigrantes haitianos provocará un aumento de las deportaciones injustas, tal como ocurrió cuando se revocó el TPS a los inmigrantes venezolanos. Más que nunca, es importante que los habitantes de Chicago se involucren con los Equipos de Respuesta Rápida locales, que han estado en primera línea apoyando a quienes corren riesgo de deportación. El IRWC se solidariza incondicionalmente con los inmigrantes haitianos y con la lucha por la liberación negra en general.
A medida que se intensifican las operaciones de deportación contra los haitianos, el IRWC seguirá luchando para poner fin a la colaboración entre el CPD y el ICE. No podemos permitir que nuestras comunidades corran peligro debido a un departamento de policía que despliega la alfombra roja para los agentes violentos del DHS.

As of July 27th, 2026, the Trump administration terminated Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian immigrants. Thousands of Haitians in Ohio have been given notice to visit an ICE office in Cincinnati, either to receive ankle monitors or voluntarily leave the country.
This indiscriminate and widespread rugpull leaves 350,000 Haitian immigrants in a position where they are likely to face violence no matter what decision they make. From the deadly deportation tactics being employed by ICE, to the massive health and torture crisis in ICE detainment camps, to tensions in Haiti, Haitians are being left in a position where they have no choice but to face needless suffering. While the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claims they are offering $2600 to immigrants who choose to leave the United States, many immigrants who take this route still face horrific conditions in detainment and never receive their promised payout.
It is important to clearly identify why this is happening: this is a decades-long hate campaign that has been bolstered by the Trump administration. This administration is using racist streamers and artificial intelligence to promote violently racist and false stereotypes of Haitians at large. The same way the Trump administration has painted Mexicans as “rapists and drug dealers” and Venezuelans as “violent gang members,” the Trump administration has pushed extremely bizarre rumors that Haitians are stealing people’s pets and eating them. What initially appears to be rhetoric alone is often followed by real, material attacks on Black and brown communities. This is why it is so vital to oppose this administration at every turn.
The Immigrant Rights Working Committee (IRWC) of CAARPR anticipates that this removal of TPS from Haitian immigrants will lead to an escalation in unjust deportations, just as it did when TPS was revoked from Venezuelan immigrants. More than ever, it is important for Chicagoans to get involved with their local Rapid Response Teams, who have been at the front lines in support of those at risk of deportation. The IRWC stands in unconditional solidarity with Haitian immigrants and the Black Liberation struggle at large.
As the deportation efforts against Haitians begin to ramp up, the IRWC will continue to fight for an end to CPD and ICE collaboration. We cannot afford to have our communities put at risk by a police department that rolls out the red carpet for violent DHS officers.
