What: House City is a 10-part traveling party series hosting events across various Chicago neighborhoods. These events highlight and celebrate the rich 35-year-old history of House music in Chicago—a genre that was created and propagated by Black, Latinx, and other creative youth in the 1980s.
Who: This series is presented by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) as part of the 2021 Year of Chicago Music.
Why: Music is a unifying force and the impact of House music in Chicago and globally is undeniable. This series is an opportunity to highlight talented, passionate DJ’s within various multi-ethnic communities in Chicago and create a fun environment for people to connect through food and live music.

Saturday, August 14 in Humboldt Park (National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture, 3015 W. Division St.)
- 3pm–9pm: DJs Lugo Rosado, DJ Phatman and Julio Bishop; hosted by Yvette Magallon
Saturday, August 28 in Englewood (Kennedy-King College, 6301 S. Halsted St.)

Sunday, September 12 in South Shore (Rainbow Beach Park, 3111 E. 77th St
- 1pm–6pm: DJs Torin Edmond, Rae Chardonnay and DJ Kobe One Kenobi; hosted by Ronda Flowers & Dana Divina; dance instruction with Boogie McClarin
Sunday, September 19 in Bronzeville (location TBA)
- 3pm-9pm: DJs Mike Dunn, Daryll Mellowman and JStar; hosted by TheWayWeWere
