Municipio de Cicero suministra agua embotellada a los afectados
Cicero, Illinois (NED).– El municipio de Cicero está suministrando agua embotellada a los residentes afectados por la orden de hervir el agua, anunciada el jueves por la noche y que sigue vigente hoy.
Se entregarán cajas de agua en el Cicero Community Park (ubicado en 3400 S. Laramie Ave.) a partir de las 2:30 p. m. de hoy. Los interesados deberán presentar una identificación que acredite un domicilio en Cicero dentro de la zona afectada por la orden: desde la calle 24 (24th Street) hacia el sur hasta la avenida Pershing (Pershing Avenue), y entre la avenida Lombard (Lombard Avenue) y el área justo al este de la avenida Cicero (Cicero Avenue).
Aquellas personas que no puedan trasladarse al parque en vehículo pueden solicitar la entrega de agua a domicilio llamando al departamento de servicios para personas mayores del municipio al número 708-222-3879.
Los residentes de dicha zona deben seguir hirviendo el agua del grifo hasta que alcance un hervor completo durante al menos cinco minutos si planean utilizarla para beber, lavar platos, cepillarse los dientes o realizar otras actividades similares. Una vez hervida, el agua puede conservarse a temperatura ambiente o refrigerarse hasta su uso. No es necesario hervir el agua destinada a tareas como lavar la ropa, regar el césped o ducharse.
La orden de hervir el agua se emitió después de que un contratista golpeara una tubería principal, afectando la presión del suministro para algunos residentes de la zona. El municipio de Cicero está colaborando con la Agencia de Protección Ambiental de Illinois (IEPA) para determinar las medidas a seguir; la orden permanecerá vigente hasta que las pruebas certificadas por la IEPA confirmen que el agua es nuevamente segura para el consumo. Las muestras deben incubarse durante al menos 24 horas para detectar cualquier crecimiento bacteriano antes de que se pueda levantar la orden.

Town of Cicero provides bottled water to those affected
Cicero, Illinois (NED).– The Town of Cicero is providing bottled water to residents impacted by the boil order announced Thursday night and which remains in effect today.
Cases of water will be available at Cicero Community Park, 3400 S. Laramie Ave. beginning at 2:30 p.m. today. Those arriving must have an ID that shows a Cicero address within the boundaries of the boil order – 24th Stret south to Pershing Avenue, between Lombard Avenue and just east of Cicero Avenue.
Those who are unable to drive to the park can have water delivered to their home by calling the town’s senior services at 708-222-3879.
Residents in that area should continue to bring tap water to a full boil for at least five minutes if it is going to be used for drinking, washing dishes, brushing teeth or other activities. Boiled water can then be stored at room temperature or refrigerated until needed. Water for things like washing clothes, watering lawns and taking showers does not have to be boiled.
The boil order was issued after a contractor struck a water main, impacting water pressure for some who live in this area. The Town of Cicero is working with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency on action steps and the boil will remain in effect until certified testing with the IEPA confirms it is again safe to drink. Samples must be incubated for at least 24 hours to check for any bacterial growth before it can be lifted.
