Cicero, Illinois (NED).– A través de una convocatoria jóvenes de Cicero, estudiantes del Colegio Morton y del Distrito Escolar 201 Secundaria J. Sterling Morton y residentes de este suburbio entre las edades de 15 a 25 años de edad, participaron en la convocatoria.
El programa cuenta con historias de latinas que han superado diferentes barreras, dudas, adversidades y han logrado salir abantes en sus vidas y carreras profesionales, convirtiéndose en una fuente de inspiración para las nuevas generaciones. Este evento fue virtual para la comunidad y fue patrocinado por el presidente del pueblo de Cicero, Larry Dominick.
“El municipio de Cicero se siente orgullosa apoyar un programa cuyo objetivo es proveer oportunidades laborales a mujeres jóvenes de la comunidad latina”, expresó Dominick. “Creemos que las jóvenes necesitan el ánimo y el apoyo tanto de su comunidad como de sus padres, por eso apoyamos el programa de Young Latina Talks”.
Por su parte la secretaria del ayuntamiento, Maria Punzo Arias, muestra gran entusiasmo por el evento y también nos brinda su apoyo.
“Como la primera latina de Cicero que ha sido electa para ocupar el cargo de secretaria del ayuntamiento, me siento muy emocionada y honrada al apoyar el evento Young Latina Talks”, expresó. “Será una gran experiencia para estas jóvenes, y además tendrán la oportunidad de ganar una beca de $1,000”.
El Colegio Comunitario Morton, institución pública de la comunidad de Cícero, sabe cuán importante es la educación superior y por eso respalda este evento por completo.

Cicero Hispanic Girls Join Young Latina Talks
Cicero, Illinois (NED) .– Through a convocation of Cicero youth, students from Morton College and J. Sterling Morton High School District 201, and residents of this suburb between the ages of 15-25, participated in the announcement.
The program has stories of Latinas who have overcome different barriers, doubts, adversities and have managed to leave behind in their lives and professional careers, becoming a source of inspiration for the new generations. This virtual event was for the community and was sponsored by the President of the Town of Cicero, Larry Dominick.
“The City of Cicero is proud to support a program that aims to provide job opportunities to young women in the Latino community,” said Dominick. “We believe that young women need encouragement and support from both their community and their parents, which is why we support the Young Latina Talks program.”
For her part, the secretary of the city council, Maria Punzo Arias, shows great enthusiasm for the event and also gives us her support.
“As the first Latina from Cicero to be elected to the position of City Clerk, I am very excited and honored to support the Young Latina Talks event,” she said. “It will be a great experience for these young women, and they will also have the opportunity to win a $ 1,000 scholarship.”
Morton Community College, a public institution in the Cicero community, knows how important higher education is and that is why it fully supports this event.
