Chicago, Illinois (NED).– El Congresista Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) emitió el siguiente comunicado luego de que el Concejo Municipal de Chicago aprobara ayudas para migrantes:
“Felicito al Alcalde Johnson y al Concejo de la Ciudad por aprobar $51 millones en ayuda para inmigrantes. Este momento requiere que avancemos en coalición mientras luchamos por oportunidades e inversiones en las comunidades afroamericanas y Latinas.
“Emigré a Chicago cuando tenía nueve años y esta ciudad nos dio la bienvenida a mí y a mi familia. Chicago fue la primera ciudad santuario de la nación y debemos continuar a la altura de ese legado. Chicago es una ciudad para todos y debemos rechazar a quienes intentan dividirnos”, termina diciendo.

Chicago, Illinois (NED).– Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) issued the following statement after the Chicago City Council approved aid for migrants:
“I commend Mayor Johnson and the City Council for approving $51 million in migrant aid. This moment requires us to move forward in coalition as we fight for opportunity and investment in Black and Brown communities.
“I migrated to Chicago when I was nine, and this city welcomed me and my family. Chicago was the nation’s first sanctuary city, and we must continue to live up to that legacy. Chicago is a city for all, and we must reject those trying to divide us.”
