Chicago, Illinois (NED).– Líderes de New Leaf Illinois estarán en la WRLL Family Care Expo el sábado 28 de octubre para compartir cómo el programa puede ayudar a las personas a borrar de sus registros condenas pasadas por cannabis. New Leaf Illinois es una red estatal de organizaciones sin fines de lucro, financiada por el estado de Illinois, que brinda servicios legales gratuitos de eliminación de antecedentes penales por cannabis.
“Estamos encantados de patrocinar la Family Care Expo de WRLL. New Leaf Illinois ayuda a las personas en cada paso del proceso legal para que ya no tengan que cargar con un cargo por cannabis”, dijo Beth Johnson, gerente del programa New Leaf Illinois. “Al mismo tiempo, los no ciudadanos también deben consultar con un abogado de inmigración, ya que incluso si el estado elimina un registro de cannabis, todavía se considera una condena a efectos de inmigración”.
La WRLL Family Care Expo gratuita se llevará a cabo el sábado 28 de octubre en el Instituto del Progreso Latino ubicado en 2520 S. Western en Chicago, de 10:00 a. m. a 3:00 p. m. En la Expo, los expertos legales de New Leaf Illinois tendrán una mesa con materiales informativos y los asistentes podrán registrarse para recibir servicios legales gratuitos.

New Leaf Illinois to Sponsor Free Event at Instituto del Progreso Latino
Chicago, Illinois (NED).– Leaders from New Leaf Illinois will be at the WRLL Family Care Expo on Saturday, October 28, to share how the program can help people clear past cannabis convictions off their records. New Leaf Illinois is a statewide network of nonprofit organizations, funded by the state of Illinois, that provides free cannabis expungement legal services.
“We’re thrilled to sponsor WRLL’s Family Care Expo. New Leaf Illinois helps people through each step of the the legal process so they don’t have to carry around the burden of a cannabis charge anymore,” said Beth Johnson, New Leaf Illinois program manager. “At the same time, non-citizens should also consult with an immigration lawyer since even if a cannabis record is expunged by the state, it’s still considered a conviction for immigration purposes.”
The free WRLL Family Care Expo will take place on Saturday, October 28, at Instituto del Progreso Latino located at 2520 S. Western in Chicago, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. At the Expo, New Leaf Illinois legal experts will have a table with informational materials and attendees will be able to register for free legal services.
